I just bout a nintendo 64 and it wont work. I have all the plug ins. It wont work! Is it because my TV?

I only have the AV cords, the battery thing in the back, and a controller! My TV is, a SHARP HD 26 inches. I am trying to play Zelda Ocarina of time! Also, I bout my N64 at www.dkoldies.com!
