I've recently broken my 5th metacarpal, I went into A&E and was told that I had snapped and twisted my bone and it had become lodged against the other half of the broken bone. I was told 3 days ago that I would need surgery to put a metal wire into my hand the following morning but it keeps getting put off due to other emergies (which i understand) but how long would it be safe for my hand to be left without surgery? even the medication they have given me is still not that effective and i am in a lot of pain. will there be a deadline time in which they HAVE to operate on my hand or could it wait for weeks???
