I got sunburnt on my legs and now they look purple.!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

i got a sunburn on my legs on saturday...they hurt pretty bad for 2 days and now they dont hurt at all...but everytime i shower ever since i got the sunburn..they turn really purple with pink blotches....i thought it was just because i was showering with coldish water so it wouldnt hurt my legs..but today i took a shower with luke warm water and it still turned purple...but ever since monday theyve stayed purple a long time after the shower.....my mom said its just because i was so whitee and the burn is turning into a tan...but i dont think so....i get random sharp pains on small spots of my leg and then they go away after a few seconds....whats happening to my legs?
